PKL’s Accounting Coach is topic oriented, including such topics as the Basic Accounting Equation, Accruals and Deferrals, FIFO, LIFO, and Weighted-average inventory valuation, Bad Debts Expense, Methods of Depreciation, Preparing Bank Reconciliations, Interest, Selling price of Bonds; Bond Premium and Bond Discount Amortization, Analysis of Balance Sheets, and Analysis of Income Statements. Students are required to calculate certain values based on data that is randomly generated with every problem. With each input (answer), the student is informed whether the input is correct or incorrect. The problems can be repeated indefinitely and every problem will have a different set of values from which to calculate the required inputs (answers). In a group situation, each student will have a unique set of values from which to calculate the required answers. When the student feels confident in being able to determine the value of ending inventory under the three basic methods of inventory valuation, as an example, the student can take an examination on inventory valuation. Just as explained previously, each examine has a unique set of values for each problem. If the student retakes the examination, a new set of values are presented for each question in the examination. In a group situation, each student will have a unique set of values for each question in the examination. The student’s printout of the examination will show the question, the correct answer, and the student’s response. The student has an option to email the examination and the results to his/her professor/instructor.
